A Turning Point for Harry Michaels

Once a Greek-Cypriot, reaching out to luck for Harry Michaels was not so easy. It was the toughest time for him when he was having no job as he along with his friends was out of the axed soap opera, Number 96. His time started turning when the Channel 10 liked his idea of a Greek variety show. After sitting idle for almost 2 months, he got the taste of success. 

Today, he lives in a massive white Mediterranean-style villa in Sydney’s posh locality.

Harry Michaels - A Mentor To Many

Harry Michaels OAM is a visionary in the Australian broadcasting landscape but also a mentor to so many desperate to forge a career in the Media. Harry’s company Harry Michaels Productions which would evolve into Zero1Zero was the sole provider for all football broadcasts on SBS Television. Within 18 months Harry employed me as a presenter in the innovative new SBS football show Soccerama which was hosted by SBS legend Les Murray. It was the start of a lifetime friendship. By the end of 1986 I was host of Sports Report Australia - the first National sport show on Australian Television. I was only 24yo. Harry - like so many other people he has met in the industry - would become a key mentor. Harry Michaels: The Lead Actor of the TV Movie Odyssey: A Journey

Harry Michaels,  the well-known actor is known for his outstanding role in Odyssey: A Journey (1974) a TV movie.  The storyline of this 40- minute film is based on the story of a young migrant from Cyprus who came to discover the burdens among an ethnic group in a weird land. Harry, a young Cypriot played the role of the migrant in the film. In the year, 2004 he has been recognised with an OAM or Order of Australia Medal because of his services to "Soccer” as well as "multicultural media".
